Day 2

Monday 14 September 2020

Next morning, everyone is ready to launch by 08.30 but when discover a problem with the skeg of our Scorpion kayak!!!

Thankfully, one hour’s repair effort by Fanis puts everything straight, thanks to his mechanic skills and his well stocked repair kit. We finally launch the kayaks in a following wind. Pierre just misses photographing a giant sea turtle while Yves gazes at a swarm of sea falcons.

After our midday stop at an abandoned suplhur mine, we quickly finish the east coast and, after crossing the SE cap, we arrive at a local tavern for a greek salad, a tzatziki and a welcome beer.

This afternoon’s kayaking is even better than morning’s, with spectacular rock formations and an abundance of sea caves.

The wind slightly picks up and we decide to set up an early bivouac at Firiplaka beach in order to be ready for tomorrow’s adventures.
